I enjoyed this book, however, it is a very sad, disturbing tale told from
the viewpoint of crack, known as "Scotty" in the novel. It opens with a young
black 17 year old, driving for his life, with both of his hands having just been
cut off. Throughout the book, the reader discovers what happened to the young
man's mother, driving her to a crack addition, and ultimately involving her son
in her life with her employer, Delicious Foods.
A very well written,
thought provoking novel.
